Switzerland: White Wonderland

Switzerland is a dream travel destination, truly a wonderland! I love Switzerland with its alpine peaks, waterfalls and marvelous valleys! A little pricey, but Switzerland is one of the most beautiful and tourist friendly countries I've ever traveled.

I visited Switzerland in the month of April. It was the best decision of my life. Switzerland was covered in white snow, as they call it, the white wonderland! Summers were near but the snowfall was had not ceased. The temperature on ground was around 5-10 degree Celsius, which was bearable for me!

Here's the list of my favourite Swiss attractions that I loved the most during my tour!

1. Rhine Falls

I visited Europe's largest waterfall on my first day! It is most popular tourist destination in Northern Switzerland. It if often flooded with tourists. I visited the falls early morning. The force of the waterfall left me stunned.

Tourists can enjoy several boat excursion trips: simply cross the Rhine River, cruise closer to the waterfalls, or most spectacularly to land on a small rocky outcrop right in the middle of the falls. The Rhine waterfalls are best seen from the right bank of the Rhine River. Enjoy the sound of gushing water and don't forget to take multiple videos, pictures and a panoramic picture to capture the magnificent view!

2. Mount Titlis

Mount Titlis is on of the of the most popular tourist destinations in Switzerland! I experienced a mind-blowing day in the snow at Mount Titlis at 3'020 meters above sea level. Don't we all love playing in snow, jumping in piles of snow, making a little snowman out of it and throwing snowballs at each other? Thus, Mount Titlis was a perfect destination for me, as I love snow more than even nutella!

I enjoyed the breath-taking views of the Swiss Alps from the revolving cable car bringing you up to a world of snow and glaciers. There are many activities for tourists. I visited the Glacier cave and walked over Europe's highest suspension bridge - the Cliff Walk (not for the faint-hearted!)! I took a ride on the Ice Flyer (which brings you close to the crevasses!)

3. Matterhorn

Did you know that Matterhorn, the king of mountains, is the most-photographed mountain in the world?

There is no better-known mountain in the world whose natural shape is so close to a pyramid. I went up the mountain through a steep cable car ride! The experience is rejoicing! Skiing is a popular sport activity here! You'd never wish to stop doing it no matter how many times you fall!

4. Jungfraujoch

This is the highest point in entire Europe! Not just that, this was also one of the coldest places in Switzerland. The temperature was -14 degrees! Yes, in the month of April! So, carry some really warm clothes when you visit this beautiful destination! One needs to ride the Jungfrau Railway to reach Jungfraujoch – Top of Europe. The view from the train is heavenly! You might have to pinch yourself to realize that you're still on planet earth!

5. UN Office, Geneva

If you get a chance, do not miss the opportunity to visit the UN office in Geneva! It will give you an unforgettable experience! You get to see the different important meeting rooms where UN representatives from every country sits!

6. Schilthorn

At 2970 metres, the Schilthorn attracts visitors with a magnificent 360-degree panoramic view of the “Swiss skyline” including Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau and a delicious meal in the revolving restaurant Piz Gloria.

For James Bond fans, a special surprise is awaiting! An added attraction is the James Bond experience which has displays and interactive games for children-and adults.

7. Interlaken

The beauty of this city is sure to win over your heart! Nestled between Lake Thun to the west and Lake Brienz to the east, Interlaken is home to flower gardens, beautiful cafes, glorious architecture & some amazing hotels! You can easily spend a day touring this beautiful, clean city! You'd never want to return home as this city makes a special place in every visitor's heart.

8. Geneva Lake

The blue water lake surrounded with luscious greenery is sure to overwhelm you! It is Europe's largest Alpine lake and laps at the shores of some of Switzerland's most popular cities.

9. St. Moritz

Mirror-like lakes, glaciers, jagged peaks, alpine forests, and oodles of sunshine make St. Moritz one of the world's top mountain destinations.

This town is one of the most photographic towns in Switzerland! Enjoy a range of activities like hiking, biking, skiing, snowboarding, skating and water sports.

10. Bern

How can you miss the capital city of Switzerland! Strolling along the cobbled streets, visitors can explore the tallest cathedral in Switzerland, with panoramic views from its tower; 16th-century fountains; the Zytglogge medieval clock tower with moving puppets; and six kilometers of shopping arcades, called "Lauben" by the locals. The Rose Garden offers beautiful views of the old town center. Shop the best of chocolates & cheese from this city.

No matter how much you see and roam around in Swiss, it is never just enough! Well, I've only listed my top 10 favourite places in Switzerland! But, there is so much more to see. Every place in this amazing country is unique and has its own essence! I hope you are inspired enough to visit this "heaven on earth"after reading my blog!
